Flat Feet

Flat feet are a common condition of the foot structure.

Flat feetWhen you get out of the shower or come out of the pool, do you look at your foot print and see that you have no arch?

You may have flat feet and this is a very common problem.  A lot of people who have flat feet will never have any pain but in a number of people flat feet can cause problems such as arch pain, heel pain, knee pain, hip pain, back pain and even sometimes migraines.

 

Test to see if you have flat feet

Flat Foot testYou can easily test yourself to see if you might have fallen arches or flat feet. Follow these three steps:

  1. Get your feet wet.
  2. Stand on a flat surface where your footprint will show, such as on a concrete walkway.
  3. Step away and look at the prints. If you see complete imprints of the bottom of your feet on the surface, then you’re likely to have flat feet.

 

Many people with flat feet do not experience pain.  However if you experience:

  • Feet tire easily
  • Painful or achy feet, especially in the areas of the arches and heels
  • The inside bottom of your feet become swollen
  • Foot movement, such as standing on your toes, is difficult
  • Back and leg pain

It’s time for a trip to the doctor to get your feet evaluated!
